August 30 – September 3, 2021

This week we will begin having spelling words to learn by Friday when we will have a spelling test. Your student should always have them written in their planner on Mondays. Here are this week’s spelling words: on, all, see, you, can, bat, hat, mat, sit, & hit.

Our read alouds this week focus on the importance of friendship.

In phonics, we are continuing to work on recognizing & producing rhyming words.

During math time, we are continuing our study of number sense by recognizing amounts on a ten frame quickly, comparing if numbers are greater are less using a number line & recognizing the combinations of numbers that equal 10.

There is a PTO meeting tonight in the cafeteria from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. If you are available to come, I know they would appreciate your support!

I am looking forward to another great week with your students!

August 12 – August 27, 2021

Whew! It’s been a whirlwind of a week and 2 days! We have been busy learning and practicing our rules and procedures and getting familiar with each other. We have a great class and we are going to have a great year!

This next week we will be practicing rhyming during our phonics time. Look for a Seesaw activity most days related to our phonics skill!

We will be reading books about school and books with rhyming words in them.

During writing, we will be writing about showing kindness as well as practicing our handwriting.

In math we are working on developing our number sense and showing numbers in different ways. This week we will be practicing using tally marks.

We are continuing to do many beginning of the year assessments which will continue for a couple more weeks. After Labor Day we should be finished. At that time your student will begin bringing home their reading group book to read as homework each day. More information will come about that at that time.

I am looking forward to a great week with your students!
